Spell Slot Tracker

For characters with magic abilities, keeping track of which spells you have cast and which you haven't can be complicated. There are dozens of gadgets and apps which you can use to track your spells, but most of the available options cost money to obtain. That's why I've created a free spell slot tracker which is easy to use. 

The default spell slot tracker. 

First, follow this link to a google doc where you can track your spell slots. Then, click File -> Make a Copy -> Make a Copy (once you have decided how to save the spreadsheet). Using the tracker is simple: I have placed "x"s in the tracker that indicate which slots are possible for any caster; you should place your own "x"s in the slots where you are unable to cast. For instance, if you were a 3rd level cleric, your tracker should look like this:

Once you have made a copy and set it up for your use, it's an easy way to track spells. You could potentially place another type of marker for used slots (for instance, typing an uppercase "O" might indicate a spent slot), but I highly recommend typing the name of the spell you used in the slot. This will allow you to remember exactly what you did, which can give you some peace of mind in terms of what you have and have not cast. 

Along the bottom of the spreadsheet are different pages. All five of the included pages have the same default allowances for spell slots, so you will need to update them to fit your class. But you can use each individual sheet of this spell slot tracker to represent periods of time between rests; simply switch to the next sheet when your party undertakes a rest. If you're so inclined, this tracking method will allow you to recognize which spells you most commonly use in various situations.
